Presets on this clock

The chips on this timer are goals you set: 16:8, 18:6, OMAD, Custom, Open. A filled ring is not a biological switch. Not a ranking of schedules. Not medical advice.

Using the Clock · Part 3 of 5 · Fasting Library

A chip is a target in hours. Forums treat the chip as the method: 16:8 as a personality, 48h as a promotion. Extra chrome. One control. It does not clear you.

This page is how the chips on this clock work. Common fasting schedules compares the calendars. Who should be careful with fasting still comes first. Not medical advice.

A chip is a goal, not a schedule

The ring fills toward the hours you picked. That is a goal you set. It is not proof that a switch flipped. Stage labels still move with elapsed time either way. What the stages on the timer mean stays the badges.

What 16:8, 18:6, and OMAD mean as calendars is Common fasting schedules. How to pick a first daily window is How to start fasting and Choosing a starting window. This page is the control on MyFastingClock.

The chips

16:8 is sixteen hours on the ring. It is the default chip on the online fasting timer. The dedicated 16:8 page opens with that chip already selected. Placement of the eight eating hours is still your calendar, not this button.

18:6 is eighteen hours on the ring. A shorter eating window. Same kind of control as 16:8, not a promotion.

OMAD on this timer is about twenty-three hours. The dedicated OMAD page opens that chip. It is not 16:8 with a tighter slogan. It is a poor first experiment for most people.

24h, 36h, and 48h are a single stretch, not two daily windows stacked. They exist so someone who already has a plan can time it. They are not a ladder after 16:8. Open-ended and multi-day fasts is why those lengths are even on the board. If you already mean a stretch past a day, Before a longer fast is that on-ramp.

Open is no end target. The ring does not fill toward a finish. Unlimited is flexibility, not a dare. Open-ended and multi-day fasts is why the cap is gone. This cluster will still cover Open as a control.

Custom is any hours or days you type. 12 and 14 live here. Those are complete options, not consolation prizes.

Dedicated URLs versus the all-protocol clock

The online fasting timer is the all-protocol clock. Pick any chip. Guest history stays on this device either way.

16:8 and OMAD are the same clock with that chip pre-selected. Same log. Same End Fast. A URL is not a different product.

Change mode and a late start

If you tapped the wrong chip, use Change mode under End Fast. The start time stays. Elapsed hours stay. Only the target changes.

If you forgot to start when calories stopped, use Edit Start Time next to the started time. Set when you actually stopped eating. You cannot pick a time in the future.

Ending early is a completed decision. It is not a reason to hide the row or to start a harsher chip as payback. Dizziness, confusion, fainting, or chest pain is a stop. Eat. See When to stop a fast.

What this is not

It is not medical advice. It is not a protocol. It is not a ranking of 16:8 versus OMAD.

It is not Common fasting schedules (the calendars). It is not Choosing a starting window (first hours). It is not Open-ended and multi-day fasts (why there is no cap). It is not What the stages on the timer mean (the badges). It is not the online fasting timer (that page opens the clock). Those stay next door. This page is the chips on this clock.

It is not a 72-hour challenge and not a reason to add a scale.

How this meets the timer

Open the online fasting timer. Pick the chip that matches the plan you already have. Custom 12 is a complete option. Start when calories stop. End Fast when you eat, including when you eat early.

Who should be careful with fasting still comes first. If you have not picked hours yet, stay near the overnight gap you already have. How to start fasting is that on-ramp.

What to read next

This cluster will still cover the History tab and Open as a control. Until those notes are live, the History tab on the app, and Open-ended and multi-day fasts, stay next door.

Coffee, restaurants, and alcohol stay in Everyday Fasting. Quieter daily hours stay in How to make fasting easier.

For this week, a chip that matches a plan you can live with, and End Fast, still beat a thread about which preset “unlocks autophagy.”

Key takeaways

  • A chip sets a goal in hours. It is not the method, and it does not clear you.
  • 16:8 is the default chip on the all-protocol clock. /16-8 and /omad open those chips. Custom 12 or 14 is a complete option.
  • 24h, 36h, and 48h are a stretch, not a ladder after 16:8. Open has no end target.
  • Change mode keeps the start time. Edit Start Time fixes a late tap.
  • A filled ring is not a lab. Ending early is not a reason to pick a harsher chip.
  • This is not a ranking of schedules, not a protocol, and not medical advice.
